What's going on?

For some reason the title of this song brought a song to mind that I haven't heard in ages. Four Non Blondes, "what's up"...Y'all know it, "hey hey hey hey, hey hey hey, I say hey, what's going on?" Anyway, randomness is bliss. Randomness pretty much explains things for me as of late.

I'm still stuck in the same hole I was last time I was writing, not knowing exactly what's going on. I have a more full picture this time though. I know to an extent what's going on, and realize it's up to me.

At the time though I'm kind of in a stale mate because I need to finish up a few things here before I can go on, and get on with my life. Most of the people that I talk to about things tell me that I'm still young. 26 seems ancient to me, sheesh, at one point I thought it was light years away. I think the rush of seeing others around me with their high-paying jobs, and wives and kids made me feel like I was headed the wrong way down the road we call life. I'll get it all figured out though.

It's been a while since I've posted. Almost 2 months. I was at a point there where I didn't know anything to say, and whatever I might have put up would have been negative. The last couple of weeks have turned that around a bit though.

I got to go on a trip to the ATL. I love it out there, I enjoy getting to spend time with my Sister. This time I actually spent a lot more time with my Brother-in-law and we hit it off way better than we have before. We watched sports, not his favorite thing to do, and smoked cigars, not necessarily my favorite thing to do. I do enjoy a good cigar every now and then though. We talked about life, family, the future, and all kinds of other stuff. I think I may have learned quite a bit from that trip. Stop being so stubborn with certain things, and take what you can get. Which I might just do some time in the near future. The main thing that I picked up though, is why not try things. Stop being so conservative and worrisome and put your best foot forward without being afraid of it getting run over.

I don't know how long this realization will last, I'm a pretty optimistic person when it comes to things, so hopefully I'll stick with it.

On a different note...

Anyone ever put something off for so long, then once you get around to doing it you are embarrassed that it took you so long. Well I've done that to a few friends here lately. None of the immediate friends, but more like the ones that I usually talk to once a month or every two months or so. I put off returning an email or call, and now 4 or 5 months later am not wanting to get back in touch for fear that they're upset with me. If you are one of those friends, I apologize. That'll be one of my new year resolutions. I think I'll shoot back an email here in a bit to one of those...

The last two days have been boring with a big B. After living in Lubbock for as long as I did, I got somewhat used to driving though town with a little ice on the road. I only remember one time when I was out on the road and decided it was too much to handle. Hawk and I were headed out to night classes and made it as far as 4th and Quaker. After seeing about 10 wrecks in the 2 mile stretch from our house to there, we decided it was best not to run all the way out to classes. Instead we pulled in to Rosa's and celebrated Taco Tuesday like any other pair of fat boys would do. Dang I miss Rosa's...

Anyway, I got off the point there for a bit. We've had what I'd call a wintery mix of elements the past couple of days. Last week I was wearing short sleeves, and seriously considering putting on some shorts. This week, it's dang chilly. When a little ice gets on the roads, this place shuts down. I bet all the Northerners are laughing at us and our lack of ice driving skills. Schools are closed for the 3rd consecutive day tomorrow, and the majority of other places are closed too. Banks, restaurants, grocery stores, all fallen prey to the below freezing temps. The only thing is, that the main roads aren't all that bad. I've been out and driving around the last two days and other than all the people driving 40 miles per hour under the speed limit, there's absolutely nothing to worry about. Tomorrow it should warm up a bit, and be up in the 50's by the weekend. Not a minute too late...

That's all for now. One of these days I'll write about the wedding I was in this past weekend. It was great. Hope all is well, everyone is warm, and lovin' life...
